Last Sunday, i went to the labor to do the blood test because i usually do the blood test twice a year. I never spend time to understand about the Cholesterol. What I understand about Cholesterol is always negative.
Yet, yesterday, after getting the result, my cholesterol level was good, under control. However, i was really wondering the technical words in the result paper: Cholesterol Total, LDL, HDL, and Triglycerides.
In this technology age, Google can be considered as "the God of Knowledge". I checked in google and found out the meaning of the Cholesterol. Not all Cholesterol is bad. According NIH Medline Plus, anyone whose age at least 20 years old are recommended to take blood test to find out the Cholesterol level. - Cholesterol LDL: the bad cholesterol and the main source of cholesterol buildup and blockage in the arteries. The optimal level is less than 100mg/dL
- Cholesterol HDL: the good cholesterol that help remove cholesterol from the arteries. the desirable level is greater than 40 mg/dL, the higher the better to prevent the heart disease.
- Triglycerides–another form of fat in your blood that can raise your risk for heart disease. the best level is less than 150mg/dL.
