“Do you know what is marketing funnels?” this is the question that I had no idea during the job interview. Actually, I used to study about the marketing mix and also came across this jargon as well. However, because I’ve have rarely worked in marketing field directly, I totally forgot about such key term. “I have no idea about it!” this is the answer that I replied to the interviewer. I felt a bit embarrassed that I applied for the marketing position and prepared well, yet I should have known such term.
Now, what is really marketing funnels? According Wikipedia, purchase funnels (refers to marketing funnels), “is a consumer focused marketing model which illustrates the theoretical customer journey towards the purchase of a product or service.” (Wikipedia) There are 4 stages: awareness, opinion, consideration, preference, and purchase.
Similarly, Gargi Patel, the director of social media of Rossetta, mentioned that there are 5 stages in marketing funnels: awareness, consideration, conversion, loyalty, and advocacy (Patel).
By understanding the purchase funnels and marketing funnels, it will help to build success marketing strategies or sale strategies for your company. In the next post, I will explain the details of each component in the marketing funnels.
